More than 200 Moths descended on Lake Garda, with top sailors battling it out for the world championship title.
The biggest ever Moth World Championships has concluded in Italy with a swathe of top names competing.
British Olympian, Paul Goodison took his second successive win at the Moth World Championship becoming the first sailor to win back to-back worlds in the foiling era.
The McDougall and McConaghy World Championships sailed on the ever-popular Lake Garda attracted a record number of entries, with some 220 sailors signing up. As has become customary with the Moth, not only was this a record crowd, it also contained many of the biggest names in the world of sailing, with Olympians, America’s Cup sailors and offshore racers all unable to resist the draw of the 11ft foiler.
Despite the huge number of top names in the fleet, Goodison was the standout performer from the off, displaying a clear upwind speed edge in the light and medium winds and sailing a consistent series, which saw him finish outside the top five on just one occasion throughout the qualifying series and gold fleet racing.
