The Write Stuff

Staring at the computer, I carefully read through the email I’d just written.

‘Chris, can you just check this for me?’ I called to my husband. I’d been diagnosed with severe dyslexia as a child, so writing just didn’t come naturally to me.

If you’d have told me then that one day I’d be writing books, I’d have laughed my head off!

It was 2013 and I’d been struggling with some health issues. I’d decided to get fit, and had taken up reiki once more after a break from practicing it. This also reignited my interest in mediumship so I joined a spiritual development circle, too.

My heart sank when one day the circle leader announced that we’d be doing inspirational writing.

‘It’s a fantastic way to connect with your spirit guides,’ she explained. ‘It’ll really help with your mediumship. All you have to do is write down whatever comes into your head. Just relax and let spirit guide you.’

Writing exercise

I wasn’t convinced, but I did as I was told, put pen to paper.

It was hard at first. I sat there, waiting for inspiration to strike.

‘Well, this is a load of rubbish.’ I thought.

But gradually, as the weeks progressed, the words began to flow – and that’s how it felt like they were flowing through me. I’d often look at the paper after a writing session, startled to see how much I’d written.

Then one day, I was drawn to attend a trance workshop. In order to go into a deep trance state, we were taken through a guided meditation. As I slipped into an altered state of consciousness, I found myself in a room where a Mediaeval monk clad in a long brown robe was sitting at a wooden writing desk, holding a feather quill.

‘My name is Harold,’ he told me. ‘I’ve been sent to you to be your spirit guide.’
