While we seem to be concerned with our faces by obsessively plying it with lotions, night creams, anti-ageing serums and what not, it’s quite common to completely ignore the skin on our back.

If your back looks gritty and is prone to breakouts, it’s time to address this awkward skin problem that no one seems to talk about. ‘Backne’ or acne on the back is similar to facial acne in its causes. But the pores on the back are significantly larger than the pores on your face, which is why they are twice as likely to get clogged.

Cleansing: One of the main causes of backne is residue from hair products. It can cause a lot of damage to the skin resulting in breakouts. To avoid this, after shampoo and conditioning, bunch up your hair in a bun away from your back. Soap your back gently to remove any kind of residue. Wash off with warm water. Use an oil-free acne wash for best results. Treat rinsing as your first and the most important step to a good back skin care routine.
