BE AN EARLY BIRD
Set your alarm for an early workout wake-up call. Doing exercise while everyone else sleeps sets you up for the day, so you can relax when you hit the breakfast buffet or pool bar.
‘Working out early in the morning is a great way to kick-start your fitness routine on holiday,’ says Ian Twitchen, head of product at Total Fitness (totalfitness.co.uk). ‘As well as instant cardio benefits, getting in a half-hour HIIT session burns calories throughout the day – known as the “after-burn” effect – meaning you can enjoy the rest of your day guilt-free.’
Go for a run on the beach, head to the courts for a tennis match, or swim 20 lengths of the pool before it gets too busy.
