Visual artist is changing lives one painting at a time
GROWING up, Kgosi Khumalo (42), had the vision to help his community of Kagiso in the West Rand using the arts. When his father passed away, Kgosi had to grow up in order to help his mother. But due to a lack of funds, he could not further his studies after he matriculated from Seepakitso Secondary School.
PASSION TURNS INTO A CAREER
Kgosi explains that he fell in love with the arts at a very young age. “I painted and did woodwork and beadwork,” he says.
“People in my community loved my work. Almost every time I exhibited in art galleries people were always eager to see my work, and that’s where I decided to make something out of it.”
The visual artist says he never thought he could turn his passion into a career, but after seeing how many people looked up to him, he decided to help those who wanted to learn the arts.
