Monaco’s Latest Bride Echoes Her Grandmother’s Style
Charlotte Casiraghi never knew her famous grandmother, Princess Grace of Monaco, who died in a tragic car accident four years before she was born.
But she paid tribute to the movie star turned royal when she married her fiancé Dimitri Rassam in Monaco last week.
For the reception following the civil ceremony, Charlotte wore a striking three-strand Cartier diamond necklace that came from Grace’s personal jewellery collection and was a gift from her grandfather Prince Rainier to his bride for their wedding in 1956.
Charlotte’s long dark hair was styled into a wavy bob reminiscent of the way Grace often wore her hair during the height of her Hollywood career, and the bodice of her white strapless Chanel gown was very similar to an ensemble her grandmother donned in the 1955 film To Catch a Thief.
The outfit Charlotte (32) chose for the civil ceremony – a grey brocade mini-dress designed by Yves Saint Laurent – appeared to be inspired by the champagne-coloured brocade suit Grace wore for her civil ceremony 63 years ago.
Fashion experts applauded Charlotte for her elegant style and the thoughtful way she honoured her grandmother. “She’s a class act, just like Grace was,” wrote one.
