For most of his life, there’s been one role Matthew McConaughey has been keen on pursuing more than any other and no, it’s not going to win him another Oscar.
“The only thing I ever knew I wanted to be was a father,” says the actor. “And it has remained the pinnacle for me. Being a dad was always my only dream.”
Matthew’s wish has come true three times – he’s dad to Levi, 12, Vida, 10, and Livingston, eight. And he can’t contain his delight at getting to be a parent, or his respect for what he says is the most crucial job he’ll ever tackle.
“I can’t think of anything more important than being a parent,” says Matthew, 51. “It is how we become immortal. I cannot think of anything that’s more awe-inspiring to be.”
The Oscar winner, whose wife Camila Alves and kids travel with him when he’s making a movie, says when he was growing up, he saw being a father as an exciting prospect.
