Making Their Move Cambridges Ready To Rule

It’s been her saving grace – the secluded country home where she can be a normal, hands-on mum, hanging out with her family and just being herself. But despite Anmer Hall being the one place where Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge can truly feel at home, she is prepared to leave it behind so she’s better able to do her duty to the Queen.

Kate and her husband Prince William are seriously considering moving full-time to the town of Windsor to be closer to Her Majesty, says a palace insider. “They are eyeing up options in the area,” reveals the source.

Following the death earlier this year of her husband Prince Philip, the monarch is planning on spending most of her time at Windsor Castle, her preferred royal residence, rather than Buckingham Palace in London.

Palace insiders say, William and Kate, both 39, whose main residence is at Kensington Palace, are mulling over a move to Windsor, as being nearer to the Queen will make life easier for everyone as they step up their royal roles and take more of the load off the 95-year-old sovereign.

“William is very keen to do whatever he can for his grandmother and for the monarchy, and being on her doorstep in Windsor would definitely help.”

They will most likely retain Apartment 1A at Kensington Palace for when they need to be in the capital, but base themselves and their children Prince George, eight, Princess Charlotte, six, and Prince Louis, three, at Windsor, 35km away from London.

That means Anmer Hall, on the grounds of the Queen’s Sandringham estate in the county of Norfolk, will be surplus to requirements.
