Bringing the prince’s family to the UK has turned into a right royal battle that looks to further alienate him from Queen and country

See you in court! HARRY'S DOOMED HOMECOMING

It makes perfect sense to Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. They need specialist police protection when they visit the United Kingdom because their American security team can’t be armed or access local intelligence, so they’ve offered to pay for it.

But the Home Office has said no, you can’t just have highly trained officers at your disposal whenever you want them. Police services can’t be bought.

Now the Sussexes are taking legal action against the government to challenge that decision. It’s all about safety, say Meghan, 40, and Harry, 37, and without British cops there to guard them, Harry’s home country is too dangerous for them and their children Archie, two, and Lilibet, seven months.

This latest move from the Sussexes, who have lived in the US for nearly two years, has caused a furore in the UK, with critics blasting them for their sense of entitlement and for using their kids to try to get their own way.

A statement released by Harry’s legal team says in the absence of police protection, he and his family “are unable to return to his home”.

“Harry is making it clear that if he doesn’t get what he wants, he will not bring his family to the UK, including his daughter Lilibet, who nobody in the royal family has met,” says one royal commentator. “That’s emotional blackmail.”

Royal biographer Ingrid Seward says Harry’s threat of legal action will not go down well with his grandmother.
