You may think you know Portugal’s sunshine coast but this little-known resort is a real gem

Golden beaches framed by the bluest of seas and miles of craggy coastline, small restaurants serving freshly caught grilled fish drizzled in olive oil and, of course, endless hours of sun. With attractions like these to its name, it’s little wonder that the Algarve draws more than two million of us to its shores each year. But while the larger resorts such as Albufeira and Vilamoura are always popular choices, head west along the coast and you’ll find the charming seaside town of Armação de Péra.
