The crisis-hit Duke of York continues to enjoy the unwavering support of the woman he divorced a quarter of a century ago. Throughout the summer, as the crisis has deepened, the Duchess of York has barely left his side.
Now sources close to the duo – who have been pictured together in Balmoral over recent weeks – say Fergie is willing to do ‘whatever it takes’ to help Andrew fight the potentially devastating civil case in America.
The Queen’s second son is being sued by Virginia Giuffre for allegedly sexually assaulting her when she was a teenager. She is seeking unspecified damages, but there is speculation the sum could be in the millions of dollars.
Virginia’s case hinges on claims she was trafficked by Andrew’s former friend, convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, to have sex with the duke when she was aged 17 and a minor under US law.
Andrew has vehemently denied all the allegations, telling the BBC in 2019 that he has no recollection of ever meeting the woman pictured in his arms in 2001.
In the now-infamous Panorama interview, Andrew went on record claiming he was with his daughters at a Pizza Express in Woking on the same night he was accused of the assault.
