Age. Appropriate. Fashion. Three words no woman ever wants to hear. Especially at the start of a shiny new year and yet another birthday looms. But there’s something about January that makes brands think you’re desperate to be told how to look. And by extension, behave.
The latest missive was about choosing the right ‘slacks’ for your generation. OK, so maybe the brand in question didn’t actually use that word, but they may as well. Because according to them once you get past 50, it’s elasticated waists and crimplene all the way. Can you imagine telling Liz Hurley, Elle Macpherson or Courteney Cox that?
I loved my nan but in the 70sshe was forced to subscribe to granny fashion pretty much as soon as she hit 40. But this is 2021! We can wear PVC pants and bottom-skimming skirts until we’re ready for our shrouds if we want, surely?
