True story. Last week the husband and I packed overnight bags and headed for a ‘dirty’ weekend to celebrate his birthday. I’d arranged a chilled bottle of champagne and some posh chocs to be waiting for us. Even made sure he had his special David Gandy M&S pants to look as much like a male model as possible (which is not possible at all really). The car was cleaned, the route planned and the open road beckoned…

Beckoned us to drive around the block, park back outside the flat and ‘check in’ to our spare room. And you know what? It was brilliant fun. Because if there’s one lovely thing to witness during our mad times it’s all the heart-warming ways in which families and friends are making special days really mean something.
