Britney's Amazing Comeback Begins!

With a groundswell of support, the singer is ready to shine again

For Britney Spears, 2021 is looking increasingly like the year she will finally break free of the shackles of her father’s 13-year conservatorship – and it’s all thanks to a few A-list mates and possibly an intervention from the US government.

The #FreeBritney online movement of the past year, which culminated in The New York Times documentary Framing Britney Spears about her plight – that is, the 39-year-old’s father Jamie controlling all her financial, medical and professional decisions – has now reached the desks of US Congress.

In a recent letter to their colleagues, Representatives Matt Gaetz and Jim Jordan are calling for a hearing about “Americans who are trapped in conservatorships” and have claimed Britney is the “most striking example”.

“This is huge for Britney, whose lawyers are working tirelessly but so far fruitlessly in a bid to get her out of this,” says a source. “She’s so grateful for the documentary, and all her famous allies like Paris Hilton and Miley Cyrus for coming forward to publicly call for her freedom. She doesn’t think Congress would have noticed if it wasn’t for all this. She’s very excited for a new chapter in her life – and a career comeback.”
