MATTHEW NEWTON ‘I never stopped loving him'

The actor reflects on his relationship with his late father Bert

It was a controversial TV interview with Bert and Patti Newton that led to the famous falling out with their son Matthew, who left Australia in disgrace after his engagement to actress Rachael Taylor ended with allegations of assault.

But Woman’s Day has learned that Matthew, 44, and his beloved father put aside their differences several years ago and forgave each other as Bert’s health started to fail, and they both realised the time they had left was too precious to waste, picking at old wounds.
