Growing up in Invercargill, former Shortland Street star Bonnie Soper vividly recalls picking up a magazine and being captivated by pictures of Princess Diana walking the streets of London. But never in her wildest dreams did she ever imagine she’d go on to portray one of history’s most iconic women.

Fast-forward a couple of decades and the Los Angeles-based actress is now taking on the role of Princess of Wales in Vibe’s telemovie Harry and Meghan: A Royal Romance.

“I’ve always been fascinated and intrigued by her, but if you’d told little Bonnie living on her farm in Southland that one day she would play Princess Diana in a movie, she’d never have believed it!” laughs Bonnie, 33.

“I just loved who she was. I loved her sensitivity and charisma, and I loved what she did with her causes. She really tried to make a difference and pave the way for her sons, showing them what could be done through her actions.”
