The spicy sweetheart is in the spotlight again

It’s been more than 20 years since Baby, Sporty, Scary, Ginger and Posh bulldozed their way into the public consciousness, selling 85 million albums worldwide and becoming the biggest girl band of all time.

The phrase “girl power” still resonates – so it’s no wonder tickets for the Spice Girls’ reunion tour (minus Posh), which kicked off on May 24, are as rare as elephant feathers.

Of course, there’s no denying the five princesses of pop have had their moments. Most recently, things kicked off when Scary Spice Mel B dropped the bombshell that she and Geri Horner had had a fling back in the day – a claim that had Ginger Spice spluttering with indignation and issuing statements of denial.

It was a loose-lipped moment that almost derailed the most-anticipated comeback tour of the century, but Emma Bunton, 43, says ties remain tight between the band members.

“We’ll always have that thing between us,” she says, her big Baby Spice blue eyes widening. “Because no-one else understands exactly what we’ve been through. No-one else knows, so we have a very close bond and there are things that only we know about each other.”
