Queen Bey and Jay-Z are royally impressed
When the Duke and Duchess of Sussex came face-to-face with singing superstars Beyoncé and Jay-Z last week, it was a red-carpet moment like no other.
The images of British royalty mingling with music royalty at The Lion King premiere in London were beamed around the world, and both couples seemed thrilled to finally meet as they warmly embraced in front of hordes of waiting photographers.
The outing came after a difficult few weeks for Harry and Meghan, who’ve copped intense criticism over spending $4.5 million of taxpayers’ money on renovations to their home, Frogmore Cottage and their controversial decision to keep baby Archie’s christening private.
The duchess was again under fire when her bodyguards stopped people from taking photos of her during a “private” outing to Wimbledon, where she sat alongside friends in the royal box.
But there were no signs of tension as they mixed with Hollywood’s elite, alongside onlookers noting the royal couple looked entirely at ease at the star-studded event.
Oozing glamour in a $3500 black satin Jason Wu dress, and $20,000 diamond and black enamel earrings, Meghan beamed as she met Beyoncé, who is said to have whispered “my princess” to the duchess before the women launched into an animated chat about their respective children.
“He’s so beautiful,” Beyoncé said as she congratulated Meghan on baby Archie, who was born on May 6. An animated Harry then joined in, revealing his little boy had recently learned a new skill.
“He’s holding his neck up?” the “Halo” singer was heard saying. The royal dad then recreated his own reaction to Archie lifting his head, excitedly clapping and cheering him on.
