Dark roads, bad directions and sudden shocks – this reunion was getting worse by the second!
Lisa Connelly
Wrong Turn

Turn around when possible. ‘Stop telling me to turn around! If you didn’t want me to come down this road you should have been clearer.’ OK, maybe I could brush up on just how far a yard is, but really, there wasn’t an abundance of turnings to choose from!

I’d pull the satnav woman’s plug if I dared prise my hands from the wheel, but just locating the full beam had almost put me in the hedgerow. It’s not a function I’ve had much call for before. Good overhead lighting and a clear urban road is by far the better option in my opinion.

Oh, I am really not liking this, I’m sure it’s getting darker. Where did the moon go? And just how many curves does a road need? Not that I’m confident this can actually be described as a road. In fact, even referring to it as a lane might be pushing the imagination now. And as for turning around.

Why they couldn’t have picked a more central venue is beyond me. Each year these reunions are getting more extravagant – in location and theme – with the nominated organiser attempting to out-do the previous one.
