Akita Known as a national treasure in Japan. Traditionally, the Akita represents health and good luck to the Japanese people. The Akita is a large, powerful dog with a decidedly sturdy appearance and a noble and intimidating presence. Being only slightly longer than he is tall, the Akita's appearance is well-balanced. The Akita has distinctive physical characteristics, including its short, thick, double coat, thick neck, erect triangular ears, and full, upright curled tail, all of which make it look like a big and cuddly stuffed animal. In general, the Akita is deliberate, strong-willed, and quiet although it will bark when it thinks necessary. Overall, the Akita makes an excellent protector as well as a valued companion
AKITA

Overview: An affectionate and loyal family member, the Akita is happy to be an only dog and can be aggressive toward other dogs outside the family. It was employed as a hunting and fighting dog and is now trained for police and guard work. Akitas are bred in a variety of colours and markings, including all-white, brindle, and pinto. Except for the white, all Akitas bear a distinct mask. An Akita is bound to shed quite a bit, and you may be wiping some drool from their face if you bring one home.

History: The Akita is named for the province of Akita in northern Japan, where they are believed to have originated. The Akita's known existence goes back to the 1600s, when the breed guarded Japanese royalty and was used for hunting fowl and large game. Akita is considered as "tender in heart and strong in strength."

The original Akita was a larger and more aggressive dog, used for hunting large game such as bears and wild boars. Over time, the Akita was bred for smaller size and a more docile temperament, making them suitable as companion dogs for Japanese families.

During World War II, the Japanese government ordered the killing of many dogs, including Akitas, as a way to conserve food. However, some Akitas were kept and bred by families, preserving the breed. After the war, American servicemen who were stationed in Japan discovered the Akita and brought several back to the United States. These dogs were the foundation stock for the breed in the US, and the Akita became a popular breed in the 1950s and 1960s.

Care and Upkeep: Taking care of an Akita dog requires a commitment to meeting its physical, mental, and emotional needs. Here are some important care tips for Akitas:
