In my case too, as with many families, it began with my children, 11-year-old Nia and Neil, 15, who are crazy about pets and who had been trying to convince my husband and I to allow them to get a dog home.

Being a corporator, I am very busy with my job and hardly get much free time. I knew that the responsibility of looking after the dog, which does require a lot of time and attention, would eventually fall on my shoulders. So we, Ashwin and I, thought, let the children get a cat – that’s a lot easier.

With help from their uncle, Makarand, who is a huge dog lover and who you have featured on the cover of this magazine, the children brought two beautiful Persian cats home. Nia named one, Frost and Neil the other, Thor. We just celebrated their second birthday. With a lovely home-made cake and new toys! Life has never seemed better.
