IN PRACTICE, PECCO BAGNAIA (Ducati Lenovo Team) set the fastest time ahead of Maverick Viñales (Aprilia Racing) by 0.065 seconds. Incidentally, it was also the first time Pecco led a session in his MotoGP career.
In qualifying, Bagnaia took the top spot ahead of Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing), Viñales, and Alex Márquez (Gresini Racing). The second factory Aprilia of Aleix Espargaro was in fifth with the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Ducati of Fabio Di Giannantonio (Diggia) closing out row two.
Sprint
PECCO BAGNAIA DOMINATED THE Sprint race on the hot and sunny Saturday afternoon. He edged away from championship leader Martin, with Aprilia's Maverick Viñales in tow completing the podium. Bagnaia's factory Ducati teammate, Enea "The Beast" Bastianini, fought through the field, having started from 11th to finish just outside the podium. Alex Márquez was the only Gresini Ducati to see the flag as Marc Márquez crashed out after losing his bike to the kerb at the beginning of lap two.
Race
STARTING FROM POLE, BAGNAIA took the holeshot off the line and was never overtaken during the 26-lap race. Martin, starting from the second row, immediately limited his losses and settled into second place by the first lap which also saw Alex Rins crash out with a massive highside for his Monster Energy Yamaha team.
