The beautiful day - attended by several of Bernardo's team-mates, including Rúben Dias, Kyle Walker and Riyad Mahrez - was the crowning moment of an already life-changing summer for the sporting star, whose new wife is expecting their first child - a daughter - in September.
"This is a year we will never forget, with winning the Champions League and the treble, then getting married and very soon having our first child," 28-year-old Bernardo tells HELLO! in this exclusive interview as he and Ines, who is seven months pregnant, share their wedding album with us.
"Of course, I want to do my best in football, but becoming a father and getting married is just unbelievable; it means much more than my professional [achievements]." Adds the glowing bride: "We love the fact that our daughter will one day look back and see that she was part of our wedding."
HOME FROM HOME
Joined by 250 of their family and friends, Bernardo and Ines, 25, were married on Saturday 1 July in Portugal's luscious Douro wine region, on the beautiful estate of Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo.
"It means a lot to get married in Portugal because it's our country - it's where we have all the people we love," says Bernardo of the picture-perfect setting, which boasts vistas of terraced vineyards bordered by olive trees and the Douro river.
Guests gathered in the alfresco ceremony area, shielded from the sun by a stretched canvas canopy, and when it was time for the ceremony to begin, the groom, dapper in a suit by Portuguese tailors Rosa & Teixeira, made his way to the altar to the sound of the Champions League anthem.
It was an apt nod to his glittering football career, which most recently saw Manchester City win the Champions League for the first time, sealing a history-making treble after also claiming the Premier League and the FA Cup.
