At hello!, we’re lucky enough to receive many invites to glamorous, star-studded events.

But when an envelope arrives from Buckingham Palace, containing a request from His Majesty the King for you to attend a garden party in celebration of the creative industries, you know it’s going to be a special occasion.

However, it’s not until you walk through those iconic, wrought-iron gates, across the red-gravelled driveway and through the pillared archway into the back garden that you realise quite how spectacular a tea party at the palace will be.

And it’s not until you shake the hand of the King himself that you appreciate quite how memorable it is. It was a gloriously sunny Wednesday afternoon when hello!’s chief revenue officer Tamsyn Spires and I (together, inset above) found ourselves sporting stylish Feather & Bloom hats and joining the great and the good from the worlds of film, theatre, TV, and fashion at the invitation of His Majesty.

MUSIC, MARQUEES AND MAGIC MOMENTS

With music from a brass band filling the air, we made our way towards the manicured lawn that stretches from the palace back doors down to the lake and was flanked by marquees set up to serve afternoon tea to 4,000 guests.
