Frankie Bridge has opened up about her mental health struggles, revealing that her battle with anxiety and depression is an ongoing issue that might never go away.
Speaking on the Should I Delete That? podcast, the former Saturdays singer-turned-Loose Women panellist said she can be plagued by dark thoughts and has days when she can’t face getting out of bed.
“I still have those horrible thoughts every so often of, like, ‘Everyone would be better off without me,’” Frankie said. “Although I don’t go as deep as I used to.”
And despite taking antidepressants and undergoing therapy for many years, Frankie admitted she still sometimes feels unable to face the world.
“I still have a lot of days where I don’t want to get out of bed or days where I can’t really face doing anything,” she confessed.
In recent years, the 33-year-old has been open about the fact she has battled anxiety throughout her life, claiming she “came out of the womb anxious”. But she hit rock bottom at the peak of The Saturdays’ fame.
“I literally didn’t want to have the responsibility of keeping myself alive any more,” she said. “I just got to the point where I didn’t want to be here any more. I found no joy in anything. I couldn’t get through a day without crying and I would say, ‘I don’t want to be here any more. I don’t want to be alive.’”
