Amber Gill made headlines back in 2019 when she and Irish rugby player Greg O’Shea were the surprise winners of the fifth series of Love Island. But these days, her love life is making headlines for a different reason, after the beautician recently went public with Arsenal and Scotland footballer Jen Beattie.
It’s thought that Amber, 25, has been dating 31-year-old Jen for a while. But until Valentine’s Day – when the pair made things official on Instagram – the star had kept her new relationship under wraps. In a previous interview, Amber hinted at a new romance, but wouldn’t go into detail, saying, “I’m really happy and that’s all you need to know. I’m not ready to tell…”
Fast forward a couple of months and the Amber we meet today is more than happy to talk about her new love. The Newcastle-born star tells us things are going “very well” between her and midfielder Jen, who’s from Glasgow, and that by coming out, she’s hoping she’ll give others the courage to do the same.
That said, the couple aren’t rushing things when it comes to moving in together and Amber, who’s lived in London for four years, said she’s just focusing on “having fun”.
The star goes on to reveal that, apart from Anna Vakili, she hasn’t kept in touch with many of her Love Island co-stars, but says they will always share the experience of being on the show together.
Here, Amber opens up about her ambitions to make a documentary about her sexuality and explains why she doesn’t think she’d make it as a footballer…
