A host of stars braved the London rain to attend the Prince’s Trust Awards at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane last Tuesday. The awards, which shine a light on the inspirational young people who support their communities, were created by King Charles III. Trust ambassadors Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly
were the hosts for the evening – Ant’s first night out since becoming a dad after welcoming baby boy Wilder with wife Anne-Marie Corbett on 14 May.
Descending on the red carpet, with umbrellas at hand, were many familiar faces, including Kate Garraway. It’s been a difficult few months for the Good Morning Britain presenter, who has been focusing on her children Darcey, 18, and Billy, 14, after her husband Derek Draper died in January, aged 56.
At the event, Kate spoke of her grief saying, “I’m only at the beginning really. I’m just three months in so there are many ups and downs to come.”
Admitting she is “keeping busy” to avoid having to “deal with the grief”, she added, “Help is there. You just have to ask for it. And hopefully, organisations like the Prince’s Trust, which is particularly good at identifying people, will be there to scoop you up.”
