As London Fashion Week celebrated its 40th year, A-list celebrities and fashion royalty came out in force to toast the best of British talent – and, of course, the looks were head-turning.
Over the years, the event has adopted a somewhat “rebellious spirit”, according to organisers, setting it apart from New York, Paris and Milan Fashion Weeks. As one spectator put it, “We wear whatever we want. We’re not bothered about whether anybody likes it or not, as long as we like it and we feel confident in it, we just rock it.”
This year’s event saw a number of classic British brands return to the top – and the famous attendees lapped it up. Burberry was one of the hottest tickets in town and certainly delivered an impressive front row, which included Kate Ferdinand and her former pro footballer husband Rio, who joked on Instagram that he was “Living my Vest Life with the Wifey”.
The couple attended the iconic label’s show at the South Bank’s National Theatre, joining the likes of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Lila Moss and Lady Amelia Windsor. Model and actress Rosie has a long history with the brand after she became the face of the Burberry body fragrance back in 2011, then featured in their campaigns the following year.
Cousins Lennon and Anais Gallagher also put on a united front at Monday’s Burberry show after their famous fathers, Liam and Noel, ended their 15-year feud and announced they were bringing back Oasis.
They were accompanied by Lennon’s mum Patsy Kensit, who was married to Liam in the late 90s. She marked the occasion on social media, writing, “Such an amazing time at the Burberry fashion show with the beautiful @gallagher_anais and @lennongallagher. Thank you @burberry for such a beautiful show Xx.”
