Prince Louis celebrated his fifth birthday on Sunday – his first without his beloved “GanGan” – and in the same week Buckingham Palace marked what would have been Queen Elizabeth II’s 97th birthday on 21 April with the release of a heartwarming photo of the late monarch surrounded by some of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The previously unseen photograph was taken by the Princess of Wales during the royal family’s annual summer holiday at Balmoral, and Louis can be seen smiling broadly along with his siblings Prince George, nine, and Princess Charlotte, seven.
Prince Louis Arthur Charles was born at 11.01am at the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London, and he spent his early years living at Apartment 1A of Kensington Palace, before the family made the permanent move to Adelaide Cottage on the Windsor Estate.
The Prince and Princess of Wales’ third child has gained a reputation for his boisterous and fun-loving behaviour, which famously delighted royal fans at the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee last June.
“I think Louis has gained this reputation of being the cheeky one in the family,” former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond exclusively tells OK!. This playfulness is something Jennie feels the young royal has inherited from his father.
Revealing how she thinks Prince Louis will have celebrated his fifth birthday, Jennie says, “They all have pretty normal birthday parties because William and Kate do what they can to keep their children's lives as normal as possible.
"If the weather was kind to them, they'll probably have been up at Anmer Hall near Sandringham careering around the beach, chasing one another, having fun and eating one of Catherine's cakes.
