WALT WILLEY ON GH VISIT

Walt Willey, who played Jackson Montgomery on ALL MY CHILDREN from 1987 through the soap’s ABC finale in 2011, was not entirely shocked when GH called to see if he’d be interested in joining the show for a brief arc.

“This is going to sound ridiculous, but somehow, I always knew that I’d end up on GENERAL HOSPITAL,” says Willey, whose first episode aired last week. “This is nothing I’d pondered a bunch, it was more like, ‘Oh, well, I wouldn’t be surprised if one day, I got a call from them.’ Now, the surprise was that they wanted me to do Jack! I thought maybe, I might, after 30 years, be able to play somebody different, but evidently not [laughs]!’ And I thought it might happen a little sooner than 12 years [after AMC’s cancellation]. But I’ve known Mark [Teschner], the casting director there, forever. So when he reached out to me and said, ‘Hey, we’d like to bring Jack to Port Charles,’ I was like, ‘Oh, okay! How? Why?’ And then I said, ‘Sure, yes, I’d love to do that! Why not?’ And so we went forward.”
