The former love rivals reveal how they really make their modern blended family work

There aren't many people who can say they're friends with their partner's ex, but Katy Perry and Miranda Kerr are just that - and more. Perry, 38, who is currently engaged to the model's ex-husband Orlando Bloom, revealed their extraordinary relationship at the G'Day USA Gala in Los Angeles on January 28, when she presented Kerr, 39, with the Excellence in the Arts Award.

"Some of you might be confused about why I'm introducing Miranda. That doesn't play into the antiquated narrative of ex-wives and new wives," the singer joked to the audience. "And yes, it's true, most of the media would like to see us mud wrestle including [her husband] Evan [Spiegel], but we are here to lead by love because Miranda is love. And as a lot of you know, love comes in many family iterations."

Continuing to open up about their blended brood, Perry shared that she's "proud to be family with a woman who is living her truth every day with grace and beauty". "Miranda "It's lik is dedicated to her three beautiful boys, her partner and that smoking-hot bod," she added. "I'm so grateful for our modern blended family. It's like I gained another sister, one with whom I usually sidebar from the main family chat and agree with."

Bloom and Kerr's son Flynn is now a big brother to his dad and Perry's daughter, and his mum and Spiegel's two sons.
