Four kids face an uncertain future after surviving for 40 days in the rainforest following a plane crash

The aircraft disappeared within minutes. On May 1, shortly after taking off from a village deep in the Amazon, its pilot declared an emergency due to engine failure, and the Cessna single-engine propeller plane fell off the radar, plunging into the Colombian rainforest.

Two weeks later, rescue crews discovered it hanging upside down among the trees along with the bodies of the three adults on board, including Magdalena Mucutuy Valencia, an Indigenous leader. But there was no sign of her four children.
