NEW DRAMA
All Creatures Great and Small Thursday, 9pm, Channel 5
As spring 1939 arrives in Darrowby in the third run of Channel 5’s All Creatures Great and Small, wedding bells are ringing out, but the storm clouds of war are gathering…
The series opens with vet James Herriot (Nicholas Ralph) getting ready to tie the knot with his sweetheart, farmer’s daughter Helen Alderson (Rachel Shenton), but the big day hits some stumbling blocks.
‘When I read the script, I was smiling like a Cheshire cat from start to finish,’ enthuses Ralph, 32. ‘It’s brilliant and everything you’d hope it would be – romantic, touching, but also very funny because there are little mishaps and teething issues on the day.’
