DAVINA MCCALL on the joy of helping more midlifers find romance
CAREN CLARK
Ready for LOVE

As another group of nervous single parents head to a romantic retreat in search of love for the second outing of ITV1’s My Mum, Your Dad, host Davina McCall is delighted to be playing Cupid again.

‘Midlifers owe it to younger generations to show we can have fun, too!’ enthuses the always-lovely star, 56, as she joins TV Times for an exclusive interview about the new 10part run. ‘And they did a lot of that this series!’

Like before, this year’s eight singletons, who are in their 40s and 50s, have been put forward by their grown-up children, who are watching – and often influencing – their every move from a nearby bunker. But this time, the lovelorn parents are aware that their offspring are observing them, and the kids can also send messages to their mums and dads, who are trying to build that allimportant chemistry!

Here, mum-of-three Davina tells us more…

The first series proved an instant hit. Why do you think it captured viewers’ imagination, Davina?

Everybody said, ‘This isn’t what I thought it would be.’ I’d made the mistake of describing it as a ‘midlife Love Island’, and it couldn’t be further from that. This isn’t a competition, it’s a singles’ retreat where you learn about yourself and how you forge a healthy relationship – that’s the greatest gift.

What can you share about the new collection of singletons?
