Perfect Woman Madhu Akhouri Chopra behind global Icon Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Entrepreneur Siddhart Chopra, has served the Indian Army for years, is a performing Doctor for 40 years and MIL of a genius. Someone who is a strong personality with boundless urge to keep educating herself. From being a doctor to producer to an entrepreneur she never believed in stopping herself from learning new things which she has on her bucket list. In a candid conversation with our Editor Dr Khooshi Gurubhai she shared her journey and her road map. Define Dr Madhu

A very calm individual, someone who likes punctuality and it takes a lot of efforts for one to rattle me in any aspect.

Your childhood

I have had a very strict childhood but it did offer me a space to express my views. I had the freedom of thought and speech but I needed approval before converting any thought into action.

Your journey so far

To be honest like every other person on this earth, my journey too hasn’t been a bed of roses but my “Iron Hand With Velvet Gloves” helped me ride the tide of life.

Pursuing medicine was always on your mind?

Yes, it was on my mind right from the time I was a school kid to become a doctor like my father.

How would you define success?

Success for me is achieving the goalposts that I have set for myself & not on the base of how others see them. Life to me is defined by 4 stages ie childhood, youth, adult and old age. Every stage teaches and prepares us for the next stage. Life will be easier to deal with then I feel.

What is life according to you?

All the roles that I play in my life are interlinked to each other. Being a good doctor was linked to my parenting style and that is further linked to my entrepreneur skills. I strongly feel that there is no management lesson better than managing home, family & career all together in a balanced manner. 

Biggest challenge in your career

The biggest challenge for me in my career was to make space for myself in a male dominated region.
