Relocating the kitchen into an under-used sitting room has created an inviting and spacious hub for family life

The new owners of a converted barn found themselves with a conundrum. 'The kitchen was dark, cramped and too small for a six-bedroom family house,' says Rachel Stanley of Krantz Designs. At the same time, the sitting room was vast- and largely empty.' The whole layout needed a rethink.
