RYU VACHIRAWICH distinctly remembers the first time he saw Asics shoes. The year was 2008, and he had just picked up table tennis. Many players at the centre he played at wore the Japanese pairs, and he was captivated by the beautiful blue and white stripes.
“I wanted them, but it wasn’t time to buy a new pair yet. When I had the chance, the model I wanted wasn’t available anymore. So, I got another pair instead, the Dynafeather,” Vachirawich says.
In the end, life has a way of bringing things full circle since Vachirawich just became a brand ambassador for Asics. In his campaign photos, naturally, he sports the latest yellow and black Dynafeather Paris.
I chat with the Thai singer and actor about table tennis and joining the Asics family.
