THE OLDEST BARBERSHOP in the world, according to the Guinness Book of World Records, welcomed its fifth Malaysian outlet at The Exchange TRX last February.
It’s a new take on tradition – a word that truly embodies the Truefitt & Hill brand – as this outlet experiments with a more open concept, especially since it’s now nestled within a luxury departmental store.
Yet the gentlemanly air still whiffs about, and its presence is unmistakable. The feeling of being part of a secret club comes automatically once you step foot into the barbering area. This four-seater feels cosy, and the smiling barbers might be part of the reason why.
The other reason could be the collection of brushes lining the wall, which signifies a special perk only afforded to members. Not unlike the bottle-storing service you’d find in a cigar lounge, these brushes belong to specific members and will be used when it’s time for their routine shave.
