Cycling is a fun and exciting activity that o… ers a range of health benefi ts for both adults and kids. World Bicycle Day on 3 June gives us the perfect opportunity to highlight the importance of cycling in promoting fi tness, health and well-being.
According to an article in the Current Sports Medicine Reports journal, cycling is one of the safest low-impact forms of aerobic exercise for all age groups, especially older adults. In addition, “athletes with nearly any injury, limitation, or disability enjoy the exhilaration and freedom of cycling.”
This is why the World Health Organisation (WHO) recommends that adults “perform at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic physical activity, such as cycling, every week”. The vast majority of psychological and medical studies across the globe support this notion, illustrating the far-reaching positive e… ects of cycling on physical health, mental health and weight management.
