The ZEN Stream represents something of a step change because it's not equipped with any decoding of its own and is designed to turn both its - and anyone else's - DAC into a network audio player.
To do this, the ZEN Stream is a network streamer fitted to work over conventional UPnP, Tidal Connect, Spotify Connect, HQ Player and Roon, with AirPlay supported too. iFi has also expressed its intention to add AirPlay 2 and Chromecast support in the future. PCM to 384kHz and DSD256 are supported, as is MQA when used with a compatible device. Connection to a network can be made both wired and wirelessly and the Stream has USB and optical outputs.
