A transformative initiative is reshaping the state's educational landscape under the Atmanirbhar Bharat and Swayampurna Goa missions, spearheaded by the dynamic Chief Minister of Goa, Dr Pramod Sawant. The Coding and Robotics project, a pioneering scheme in school education, positions Goa as the first state in India to successfully implement this cutting-edge program. As the state paves the way for a new era in education, the project is set to serve as a model for nationwide adoption. Incredible Goa's editor sat down with Dr. Vijay Borges, the Coding and Robotics project director, to delve deeper into this revolutionary initiative, gathering exclusive insights on its impact and future potential.
"Our honourable Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant, envisioned a budgeted scheme for Coding and Robotics in Goa," shared Dr Vijay Borges, noting that this initiative took root in 2020 with the introduction of the New Education Policy (NEP). "The NEP highlighted the need for computational, mathematical, and design thinking skills at the middle school level on a national scale. While it was still in the policy draft stage, our dynamic CM took the bold step to implement it immediately. I must say, Goa is the first state in the country to have a budgeted scheme for school education." Dr Vijay elaborated that the scheme is specifically designed for students in classes 6 to 8. "The focus on middle school is intentional, as it's crucial to nurture the developing minds of students during this growth phase. A strong foundation at this stage will foster strong personalities in the future," he emphasised.
He also spoke on the significance of the initiative taken by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. "Our honourable Prime Minister has taken a decisive step by implementing the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission, which propels our country towards self-reliance across all sectors.
