Since its humble beginnings more than 140 years ago, the Cumnock General Store has had only five different owners. But now it has a whopping 196 and they are all long-standing customers! Locals say the heritage-listed site is the "heart and soul" of their small NSW town. It sat on the market for three years until the Long White Lunch Committee, a community fundraising group, decided to take matters into their own hands. They created a not-forprofit, and asked the town's 500 residents to buy a $1000 store membership, which would make them co-owners.
