A weed is a plant that is anything growing in a spot that you don’t want it to – not exactly scientific is it? It doesn’t help much when identifying them, but if you know what you do want to be growing, then you can work on removing the rest.

GET HANDS ON

Hand-pulling weeds, roots and all, is the best and most effective method. Wait until after rain when the soil is soft, and weeds will come out of the ground with ease. Pop them straight into a bucket to prevent seeds spreading and throw them out into the green bin so they don’t infect your compost bin (unless you hot compost, then that will destroy the seed viability).
