IN GOOD TIME

The independent watchmakers that established themselves in the late 1990s and early 2000s have an interesting thing in common—unconventional shapes. De Bethune, Urwerk, MB&F, and Hautlence, for example, are known for their signature cases and unconventional ways in which to tell the time. But while the independent watchmaking scene has continued to thrive over the years, Hautlence (an anagram of the Swiss town Neuchâtel) went silent in late 2020 despite some interesting releases in the years prior. In its arsenal included art-inspired watches made in collaboration with football legend Eric Cantona and the innovative HL Sphere 02.
