LOUIS VUITTON's Menswear Fall/Winter 2022 collection held a second show, but this time in the form of a sensational spin-off in Bangkok

It was last January, at the Carreau du Temple in Paris, that the world first witnessed the inspired pieces that make up the Louis Vuitton Menswear Fall/Winter 2022 collection. Fast forward to June, the collection is reprised for a second show, except this time it’s travelled to a new location: Bangkok, Thailand. While a spin-off show is no foreign concept for the maison, having previously brought its Spring/Summer 2021 collection to Tokyo and Shanghai, this does mark its first in Southeast Asia.

The Fall-Winter 2022 Spin-OffShow in Bangkok was held at The Pinnacle, ICONSIAM, unfolding in a Louis Dreamhouse². This new squaring of existing ideas and imaginary spaces manifests in a physical but surrealist sphere. Here, everything is circulated – the sun orbits the set as models travel in circular passages and instruments float planetarily in the dreamy ether. A cinematic prelude called “I Dreamt of You”, directed by Sivaroj Kongsakul and based on the filmmaker’s own childhood memories, tells of an 11-year-old boy’s formative experiences in the surroundings of rural Thailand. Portraying the Boyhood Ideology® key to the philosophy of Virgil Abloh, the film is rooted in his world view – that youth is global.
