The Ula Sculpture Bench (around US$90,000) can hold a room. Its distilled calligraphic form is commanding, and the material mesmerising. While you can choose from a variety of marbles, our preferred hue-sodalite blue-lends a whalelike look. Verónica Mar did, in fact, draw inspiration for the minimalist piece from the "strength and sweetness of the sea". In creating a piece both energised and serene, the Spanish artist-designer captures the soul of summer holidays spent at the shore.
Togo, Ligne Roset

Designed by Michel Ducaroy-who was inspired by a tube of toothpaste folded back on itself-the frameless, quilted-polyestercovered foam seat debuted in 1973 to a puzzled public.
