Jennifer Yu's debut film, Sisterhood, was only released in 2016, but the actress and former model has proved a force to be reckoned with, winning best new actress at the Hong Kong Film Awards (HKFA) for that role. Since then, she has been nominated several times for acting awards-most recently, an HKFA best-supporting actress nod for her role in 2022 drama Far Far Away. She plays Melanie, one of the male lead's five love interests, who each have a distinctive personality and attitude to love.
What was your reaction when you heard about your nomination?
I was overwhelmed with surprise and disbelief because I had thought roles that usually get nominated are those that involve a display of great emotion. To be recognised for this performance means a lot. I am grateful to those who voted for me and those who like the character.
