PAVING THE WAY TO A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE THROUGH GLOBAL ENERGY TRANSITION

INDIA'S G20 AND SCO LEADERSHIP

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted a slowing global economy that lacks strong leadership to maintain peace and promote growth. The United Nations' dysfunctionality, due to the involvement of Russia in a conflict, adds to the challenge. In this challenging environment, India's leadership in the G20 and SCO provides a unique opportunity to tackle global challenges and lead the world towards a sustainable future. With its ability to communicate effectively with all nations, India can play a vital role in addressing urgent issues such as the pandemic, climate change, financial instability, and geopolitical tensions. As the world's largest democracy and fifth-largest economy, India's leadership in these multilateral platforms offers a platform to find solutions that promote healing, harmony, and hope for the post-pandemic world.

India's presidency of the G20, with the theme "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam," places equal value on all living beings, including humans, animals, plants, and microorganisms, and recognizes their interconnectedness. While immediate action is necessary for human-centric issues such as inflation, high debt levels, and geopolitical crises, the transition to sustainable energy sources is essential for the survival of the planet. In this context, India's G20 and SCO presidencies must prioritize the move towards cleaner sources of energy to promote an equitable future for all.
