STUART FLEETWOOD says he’s as prepared as he possibly can be to take on his first number one management role.

STU'S A SUPER CHOICE!

The 37-year-old former striker has been appointed head coach at Southern League Premier South Swindon Supermarine.

Most recently on Tim Flowers’ staff at Gloucester City, where he also held the head of academy role, Fleetwood has been prepping for this stage of his career for some time.

“I’ve been waiting for an opportunity like this,” Fleetwood told The NLP. “I was number two under Peter Beadle at Yate and helped out at Cinderford for a bit coaching and playing. Then this year I had a great opportunity in the National League North under Tim Flowers and Yan Klukowski as a first team coach at Gloucester City.

“I’ve been sort of priming myself and taking little bits of information from everywhere I’ve been on how I would do things. When this came up I really wanted it.

“I prepared for it and I think I beat off some decent competition to get the role. I’m quite proud I did my homework and did well in the interview.
