Ahmedabad's police force is harnessing the latest technology in their crimefighting efforts. The integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in operations of the Police Control Room is already making a difference.
In the past, police had to rely on forensic labs to enhance blurry CCTV footage, leading to delays in investigations and allowing criminals to escape.
"The Forensic Lab is heavily overburdened, it used to take time to give result-oriented reports, and as a result, the criminals involved sometimes used to escape," explained Add. DGP Ajay Choudhari.
However, with the implementation of the ten-point ICT system, the process has been dramatically accelerated.
"The forensic work which earlier used to take at least a day is done within a time frame of 30 minutes to 1 hour," said Choudhari, highlighting the increased efficiency in apprehending criminals.
